A high fiber diet is very important to aid recovery, and even avoid hemorrhoids. Most doctors recommend consumption of approximately 20 to 30 grams of fiber each day. Some of the vegetables that are the most rich in fiber include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and beans. If you are a fruit-lover, add to your diet more peaches, oranges, apples and bananas—all high in fiber content.

Highly processed foods, and foods high in sugar, should be avoided as much as possible. Opt instead for a diet rich in fiber, antioxidants, and bioflavonoids. The ideal diet would consist of plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. You should also strive to drink plenty of liquids, and especially water. Think of your body as a vessel: the cleaner you can keep it, the less likely that it will develop hemorrhoids.
